How to calculate wallpaper rolls
- Measure your walls. Enter each wall’s width and height (or the room perimeter and ceiling height).
- Set the pattern. Pick the match type and enter the pattern repeat from the roll label.
- Choose your roll. Select a roll preset (European, US double, peel & stick) or enter custom dimensions.
- Read the result. See rolls to buy, cost and paste, with a per-wall breakdown and diagram.
- Buy one batch. Order every roll in one purchase with the same batch number, plus one spare.
A worked example
If the strip calculation recommends 10 single rolls and your selected paper costs $45 per roll, the wallpaper total is $450 before tax and delivery. Traditional paper at that quantity also calls for two tubs of paste under the built-in six-roll-per-tub planning rate.

Frequently asked questions
How is wallpaper cost calculated?
The calculator multiplies the recommended single-roll-equivalent quantity by the price you enter. That quantity already includes pattern-aware cuts, your selected buffer and the optional repair roll.
Is wallpaper priced by the single roll or double roll?
US suppliers often quote a single-roll price but manufacture and ship double-roll bolts. Check the product page carefully. This tool reports both single-roll equivalents and the number of double-roll bolts when that preset is selected.
Does the total include wallpaper paste?
Paste quantity is shown as a separate shopping item for traditional and paste-the-wall products. Because local adhesive prices vary, the wallpaper cost total is based on your roll price rather than silently guessing a paste price.
Why can a larger pattern repeat cost more?
Each drop must be lengthened to the next matching point, so fewer complete drops may fit on a roll. A small change in repeat can cross that threshold and add an entire roll.
Should I include tax and delivery?
Add sales tax, shipping, tools, wall preparation and labour separately. The calculator intentionally keeps the roll-price calculation transparent so location-specific charges are not hidden in a guessed total.
How can I reduce wallpaper cost without running short?
Measure every wall accurately, use the exact label dimensions, and compare patterns with smaller repeats or free matches. Do not remove the repair roll merely to hit a budget if replacement stock may be unavailable.
